-Danmark's pm ,Anders Fogh Rasmusen will be the next NATO General Secretary, if he wants.


-The Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen has declined to comment on a report that a high-ranking source in NATO told a Canadian news agency that he can have the job as NATO’s secretary general if he wants it.
Anders Fogh Rasmussen (Lib) says there is nothing new and that the public already knows his answer.
“You know my answer. That is that I am not a candidate for international posts and intend to stay as prime minister as long as the voters want me to. You have heard this before,” Fogh Rasmussen says.
Fogh Rasmussen’s statement came after the Canadian news agency, Canwest News Service, quoted an unnamed NATO diplomat as saying that Fogh Rasmussen could have the post if he wanted it.
According to the source, NATO needs a European secretary general since NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander is an American, General John Craddock.
“For optics and balance, you have an American SACEUR. To also have a non-European political head would be seen as unhealthy for the organization,” the NATO diplomat was reported as saying.
